What is a Relieving Letter?

A relieving letter is a formal document given to the employee by the employer on the company’s letterhead at the time of the employee’s departure from the company. It shows that the applicant has fulfilled all of their obligations during the employment tenure and has served their notice period. Because it lists the dates that the employment began and ended, it is sometimes referred to as an experience letter. A letter of resignation is often written on the employee’s last day of employment.

How To Write A Request For Relieving Letter?

There is no fixed format for writing an application for relieving letter. However, you can include some key elements to ensure that the principal points are covered in the letter as well. Using a simple, professional tone that emphasizes the request itself is beneficial. Here are some of the important elements you can highlight in your email to inform your manager about sending the relieving letter:

Employer Details: 

Include the name of your supervisor or project manager besides specifying the company name and address

Date of Request: 

Start the mail by clearly specifying the date. This can be helpful in case the company delays the relieving letter and you do not receive the letter on time.

Employee Details: 

Include all your details, including your full name, designation, employee ID and your department.

Details of Resignation: 

Highlight the details of your resignation, including the date of sending the resignation and the specified last date. Attach a copy of your resignation letter to the mail for reference. If you are being transferred, specify the date of transfer and the name of the branch.

Statement:
